Awards & Recognition

Dublin-Laurens County has been recognized by the State and entire region as a great place to live, work, and retire. Here is just a sample of some recent achievements:

March 2011:
Laurens County Emergency Medical Service won the statewide Georgia "EMS Service of the Year" award. This award is presented to a currently licensed Georgia Emergency Medical Service, which exemplifies outstanding professionalism on the local, regional, and state level, as well as to the community it serves. Outstanding professionalism is defined as going far above and beyond the call of duty. Strong consideration is also given to exceeding industry minimums in different areas of operations.

December 2009:
The Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority is a proud recipient of a ~$488,000 OneGeorgia Equity Grant for road improvements at our Interstate 16 industrial park. The funding will allow for a truck entrance and access road to serve the park in the anticipation of large industrial users needing such infrastructure in the future. This has further set our site apart with excellent infrastructure on site, interstate visibility and access, and all due diligence studies being completed on the site. OneGeorgia continues to make a difference in Laurens County and rural Georgia communities.

October 2009:
The American Association of Retirement Communities (AARC) welcomes Dublin/Laurens County Georgia as a Seal of Approval Community. The AARC is an association dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of the benefits of retiree attraction as an important economic development strategy. Dublin/Laurens County is the first community in Georgia to seek and be approved as a Seal of Approval Community.

September 2007:
Lifestyles Publishing, Inc., announces the finalists for its first annual listing of “The 10 Best Places to Retire in Georgia.” Winners will be featured in the Fall/Winter 2007 issue of Retire in Georgia magazine, which will be available in September.

July 2006:
Dublin was chosen with five other Georgia communities to receive grant funding to establish wireless broadband networks through the Wireless Communities Georgia Program. “I congratulate these communities for being the first recipients of the Wireless Communities Georgia grant program,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “Broadband is the new dial tone for the 21st century. Connectivity will help these communities expand educational opportunities, promote economic development and increase access to government services.”

July 2005:
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs designated the City of Dublin a “Signature Community” a proclamation that the city has illustrated a climate and infrastructure that will serve as “role model for its fellow communities.” As result, The Dublin Signature’s Team’s has planned initiatives to include implementation of the transportation and economic development activities in the recently adopted Martin Luther King, Jr. Corridor Urban Redevelopment Plan and institute marketing strategies identified in a completed Market Analysis.

October 2000:
Dublin was chosen as a City of Excellence -- one of the ten best managed and most livable cities in Georgia -- when judged in the areas of fiscal management, public safety, infrastructure, citizen participation, cultural activities, community partnerships and downtown viability by the Georgia Municipal Association and Georgia Trend Magazine.
